Grandma's Freezer Sugar Bars

My family knows these as Blueberry Bars, since I always add them. Who can resist adding blueberries to something nutmeg-y?? They keep fabulously in the freezer, making them handy for little unexpected visits from someone special.


2 C sugar

1/2 C butter

2 eggs, beaten

1 C sour cream


2 t. nutmeg

1 t. cream of tartar

1 1/2 t. baking soda

1/2 t. salt


3 1/4 C flour


Cream the sugar and butter together, then add eggs and sour cream, mixing well. Add the remaining ingredients, folding the flour in last.


Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
